Untidy Towns

Part 2

We sat around the table speaking our truths and as likely predicted everyone was thankful for family. I said the line about strengths and weaknesses at work, boyfren said he was thankful for “this one,” his hand on my head, and I don’t know why it still makes me melt inside after so many years but it does. Coming around to Benjamin, 6, he points straight to his mother eyes closed wide smile, and when we put two and two together he laughs, turns red, covers his face. I can’t remember who’s next but he interrupts them and he says, “I thought of something else I’m thankful for!” so we all get quiet and wait and he looks around and smiles; “slapping myself in the face!”
