Untidy Towns

Allegory of the Cave

A life forgotten, tucked beneath the recesses of confusion and chemical awareness.
Once I believed who I was, I understood
what I felt when I felt I was water flowing between crevices buried in mountains.
I began to dig, and dig, but all I found was anger,
strong red, dark red,
the kind of anger that makes you forget you were ever sad.
They say that tunnels lead to hope.
Mine thrust me into a world of sensual experience,
too much, too many pleasures, too many ideas, too much to handle,
but looking behind to see the path I had to climb, I know I can’t go back,
though I want to, more than anything.
They want me to come out and play, but all my doors are closed.
